Pre-joining Ram Assessment
We recommend that a breeding soundness examination should be carried out on all rams prior to joining, in order to achieve maximum ram performance during the mating period. Assessment includes body condition scoring, structural soundness, and a reproductive examination. Other management practices such as vaccinations, shearing and commencement of pre-joining nutrition plans can be implemented at the same time. This also presents a good opportunity to screen for ovine brucellosis and obtain sedation for shearing.
